Introducing CellarPass™ - the Next Generation Reservation Tool

In order to determine the requirements for the next generation wine tasting and tour reservation system, we first started with our own client base - both those who are using the existing reservation system and those that are not. This process included small to large wineries. We then included companies outside the wine industry so that we could determine how the application could be used elsewhere. While documenting these requirements, there was a theme that kept repeating itself. Consumers want to be able to select their type of tour and have instant confirmation of the tour’s availability as well as make special requests using an online form. When we originally created the tools, wineries wanted to create an immediate connection with the consumer by accepting reservation requests online, but would then have to follow up with a phone call -- something that is labor intensive and sometimes difficult to keep up with the demand.

So over the course of the past 12 months, the CellarPass development team focused on developing the next generation of reservation tools that not only answers these requests, but takes it to a whole new level. With no expense spared or corner cut, the reservation system was written completely from scratch using the latest web-based technologies available, a commitment that has been a core of the company's philosophy. With the lessons learned from their industry-leading eBusiness application, the CellarPass system provides the tools to create and manage events and reservations for wine tasting and tours that instantly communicates with consumers regarding confirmations.

The system doesn't stop there, it helps create a winery affinity by offering automated post-visit follow-up emails to gather feedback on their guests’ tours, tastings and overall experiences. These moderated consumer reviews will then provide future visitors with the ability to select tours and tastings that might fit their personality and expectations with help of their fellow winery fans. Again, the idea is to create a closer bond with the consumer from the very first visit to CellarPass.com and make each subsequent visit (both online and in person) even better and easier.

More Than Reservations, it's a Traffic Generator

By combining all the functionality of the membership management tools, which allows consumers to search wineries from all over the world, along with the reservations system, which allows consumers to then book reservations in just seconds, Submerce brings to market CellarPass™ - a reservation management solution for the wine industry, made easy.

CellarPass™ is available as a web-based application that has two major components. Of course it includes a powerful reservation tool that will be placed on a winery's website, but that's not enough to set us apart from other standardized reservation tools already available. We believe building an online destination for the wine industry by the wine industry is the missing piece - not a listing of our own biased interpretation or one that you have to pay to be included.

Each winery profile will include details such as varietals, appellation, regions, types of tours, hours of operation, detailed maps and directions and more for web visitors to easily view. We have already collected detailed data on over 5500 wineries that are by the wineries themselves - not by critics or spin doctors.

What will also set us apart is the fact that we will open up to commentary to the visitors themselves with follow-up emails requesting honest feedback about their winery experience. Those commentaries will be posted on the winery's public profile helping to provide additional insight for other visitors to use as part of their travel plans.

The CellarPass™ website will include a very powerful search engine that allows visitors to search against those criteria to design their own personalized wine country tour. Within seconds, online visitors will have results and be able to book reservations in less than a minute. Once a reservation has been requested, both the visitor and the winery are instantly notified and the reservation is immediately confirmed based on real-time availability. No more waiting and no more wondering.

Seamless Integration and Strategic Partnerships


CellarPass works great on it's own, but can also be part of your entire direct-to-consumer solution by synchronizing key guest and reservation data via webservices and traditional import/export tools. Better yet, CellarPass has already established key industry relationships in order to provide a seamless data integration solution between your reservation data and your Point of Sale, Wine Club and Ecommerce application providers.

As we finalize and certify those integrations, we will be announcing the
list of partners . CellarPass does not require for you to change your eCommerce or Content Management Solution (CMS) to advantage of CellarPass. This system is compatible with most systems and technology providers to integrate with- including CRM and POS applications. To date we have confirmed that the CellarPass Reservation Widget can be placed on eWinery, Inertia Beverage and Submerce platforms as well as integrated with Microsoft RMS via our partnership with Napa Valley POS.
