Norman Christianson's passion for wine took him across five continents as he searched for the perfect location for his vineyard. His eye as a trained geologist recognized the unique setting in Palisade, CO: the cobblestone bench, abundant water, fertile soil, cool mountain breezes and low humidity - all perfect for growing high-altitude wine grapes. He combined his passion and vision into this estate vineyard and winery that consistently creates award-winning wines.
Ellen Christianson is driven to make the best wines possible. Her love of wine is closely matched by her love of family. She has been intimately involved in the dreaming, planning and implementation of creating Canyon Wind Cellars from its very inception.
Robert Pepi is a world-renown Napa winemaker who joined Canyon Wind Cellars to contribute his expertise in winemaking. Under his careful supervision and direction, Canyon Wind Cellars has produced many award-winning estate wines that put them on the map.
Jay Christianson grew up working on the family estate and as an adult found his own love of wine and winemaking. His role at Canyon Wind Cellars is as part of the marketing team. Jay is committed to sharing the legacy of the Canyon Wind Cellars, producing the finest estate wines that the land, wind, sun and river will yield.
The foundation of Canyon Wind Cellars is a bench filled with loose cobblestones, sand, and mineral rich soil. This provides the vineyards with ideal growing conditions for award-winning grape production. The finest wine growing regions in the world share this same foundation but they do not share the altitude and the dramatic cliffs that tower over the stunning Colorado River which channels the cool mountain breeze through the canyon mouth and over the fields of Canyon Wind Cellars. Indeed, Canyon Wind Cellars is unique in its location and in the wines it creates.
