Monterey County Day Trip Ideas

Discover Monterey County- Day Trip Planning Ideas

Less than two hours from the hustle and bustle of downtown San Francisco, Monterey County offers a wide selection of wine tasting and tours paired nicely family-friendly dining. What you will quickly notice about this region is the fact that wineries are spread much further apart than other grapegrowing regions, so give yourself at least 30-45 minutes between destinations to compensate for travel time.

Family-Friendly Wine Tasting & Food Experience

This is a wine country excursion that is family-friendly and delivers on home-grown, authentic food and wine. We love it because there's few places like this in wine country.
Manzoni Estate Vineyards Manzoni chose to grow grapes on California's cool coastal mountains, ridges, and hillsides and benchlands. Here, they strive to give you the richest, most intense flavors with a unique and memorable character. We love it because it's family run and a boutique winery.

Mariscos Puerto Nuevo  A local, authentic hotspot for really good Mexican food. They don't take reservations and expect a short wait, but what is presented is delicious. Take a lunch break between 12 and 1:30.  3022 De La Rosa Sr Street, Soledad, CA (831) 678-9234

Wrath Wines  / San Saba Vineyard  We love it because you get to explore the terroir they've adopted which is “less is more” mantra. San Saba is a great example of Monterey Coastal terroir which shows in their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

The Windmill  We were recommended to go to this "local" spot and very were happy that we did as we were really craving some good American food after all our Monterey-area wine tastings. Talk about dining the way it used to be, the ladies will be sure to take care of you. You'll have to experience it yourself. 1155 Front Street, Soledad, CA (831) 678-1775
