California's first premium winery established in 1857 by Count Agoston Harazthy.
Pioneers of the California Wine Industry.
Before there were vineyards in every valley north of San Francisco, before Napa and Sonoma were household names, before there was a California wine industry at all, there was Buena Vista. Founded in 1857 by Count Agoston Haraszthy, Buena Vista is Californias oldest premium winery, and its history is as colorful as it is proud. Just outside the town of Sonoma, the original winery is now a California Historic Landmark, and home to our Tasting Room & Visitors Center.
Boisset Family Estates-a family with a true love and respect for
Buena Vista-is passionately committed to continue the imaginative vision
and unrivaled legacy first created by The Count 150 years ago. Please
join us in celebrating the rebirth of Buena Vista. Our brilliant
history. Our spectacular wines. The extraordinary experience at our
Buena Vista Winery. Our future is in our history-our rich, colorful and eccentric past.
We arrived and had a barrel tour which was awesome. We ended up trying some great wines after that in the main tasting room and then had lunch upstairs.
The wine was overpriced and not very good. The tour was really cheesy. Like the chuck-e-cheese of winery tours. That being said, the tour was certainly memorable.
It was a lot of fun and our host was delightful, and interesting and entertaining. Fascinating to see all the rooms below and to taste from the barrel. A very enjoyable experience.
We had a very enjoyable visit. The count was charming
Don gave us the tour and did a great job- loved that he put his own personality into his talk- he played piano for us too !
Beautiful place and so full of the origins and HISTORY of Wine in the USA. Great and super knowledgeable Guide, who was DRESSED the Nines!!
Enjoyed the tasting as we moved through the caves. NEAT way to experience their fine wines. I joined the club that day and will look forward to coming back, and enjoying their wines
Great wine, fun atmospheric sphere, & superb history, outside grounds, and if course the servers! This was my 2nd time visiting Burns Vista, & I will go back for a 3rd at least!!!
Our host and tour guide was amazing! He was friendly, helpful and happy to answer questions. It is a beautiful winery! I like how the walk from the parking lot to the tasting room is full of fun trivia about the winery and its history as well as a fun maze!
We did the Grand Reserve tasting. Wine was excellent and plentiful. Loved the caves.
Had a great time tasting at Buena Vista for my birthday. Beautiful location!!!
We are three elderly sisters Who have walking issues. I don’t remember the name of the person I spoke to at first but she was very very accommodating and told us to park in the handicap parking and even offered to come and escort us in. We loved our host Don and had a wonderful time.
We had a great experience! We were there during the off season so our Reserve tasting ended up private. Our guide walked us through the property and caves and was very knowledgeable. We had a great time and actually ended up seeing her in town that night!
Great selection of wines and an excellent host !
I visited multiple wineries while in Sonoma, & Buena Vista was by far my favorite. I highly recommend the Barrel Tour & Tasting. We learned a lot from Vasile, our tour guide. He was fantastic & did a great job of finding wines that we liked. I definitely liked hearing the history of the winery rather than just stopping by for a tasting. My favorite was their Private Reserve Chardonnay....FANTASTIC
Please pass this information along...we are in the wine business and live in Napa, got to say...there was no check in area. We had to stand in front of the bar and ask where to go for our barrel tasting. Oh..what a joke, the one barrel we tasted was a 2017 pinot, still bubbling away. Maybe they should go to another winery and get an education on what is a 'barrel tasting'. will not be back.
We took the Cave Tour, and Don, our tour guide, was absolutely amazing. I would recommend the tour just because of him. He was super knowledgeable of the wine and the winery and made it very fun. He allowed us to taste something again to try to make a decision on what we wanted to buy. Great tour!
We took the Barrel Tasting tour and we loved it! Our guide was so great with a wonderful mix of humor and history. He was a former wine maker so his insights were very interesting. Wish we could come back for his wine blending class....maybe next trip to the west coast.
A little confusing on arriving in tasting room 10 minutes before the tour. We’re told Don was our tour guide. At about 3:10 of our 3:00p tour we talked to Don who curtly requested that we wait in the tasting room and have a glass of wine. The tasting room poured us a nice taste of the Rose Champagne. About 3:20p Fred the sherif tour guide introduced himself and we had a delightful tour.
My husband and I have been members for 5 years and we finally got around to taking a tour for our anniversary this past Thursday and what a wonderful experience it was! We have tasted in many different wine regions and Buena Vista by far has the best hospitality in all of wine country!
The grounds were beautiful. My girlfriend and I loved every bit of the tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Would do again
We had a blast. I don't remember the gentleman's name that was our tour guide, but he did a great job!!
My husband, sister-in-law and I all participated in the wine maker for the day experience. It was ome of best experiences of our trip. Our host (Amanda) was awesome.
Make sure to plan enough time. We didn't have enough time to enjoy the beautiful property.
We had an amazing time, thanks!
I am a local homeowner and free-lance as a hospitality expert, of all of the Wineries that I have worked at in the valley, this is one out of only two that I visit as a guest. There is so much history and beauty.
Buena Vista has a beautiful setting. The historic buildings add to the overall feel. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun- made for a great experience.
We had a fun time. Our tour guide was great and the place was very interesting. The tour came across as how a sophisticated European would perceive what would appeal to unsophisticated Americans. We embraced it and had a Disney Wine experience. If you want to discover interesting facts like, "Wine is made from grapes..." this is the place for you. Fun time.
This is a charming winery. Our wine educator was wonderful and entertaining. We liked their wine and their history.
What an incredible place to visit! It was my favorite of all 4 wineries we visited. Vasili was an excellent tour guide.... incredible service and not to mention we learned a lot about the history of the amazing wines we tasted. I appreciated every second!
I did the Barrel tour with Brandon, he is amazing! GREAT AMBASSADOR! The history, and the place is amazing! Love it.
A very attractive winery with many activities. The staff was engaging and they have offer many excellent wines.
Always an amazing experience and wonderful wine. Thanks to Don and the team for a wonderful cellar tour.
I loved the great tour by the "count" , he was very entertaining and very informative. The tasting was also excellent and so good we joined the wine club.
I made a reservation for the Be the Count Experience for my boyfriend's birthday and we had the best time. JCB and the Boisset group do an amazing job bringing wine to life and making eclectic and fun experiences unlike any other winery I have visited (which is quite a few). Ali (our host) was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
For my first time in Napa this was an awesome place to taste and tour. The wine was delicious and the ambience very welcoming. Our tour guide was awesome too!
This was our second year at the winery and our first time blending. We had great fun with the blending experience and no doubt the fun will continue into the future when we open the bottles! From creating a label through the bottling of the wine, we had a blast! Be prepared, you get period appropriate clothing to wear while there, another touch to add to the fun!
As always, breathtaking experience. From the road in, entry way, walk in, setting and the wines and facilities are one of my wife's and mine favorite wineries. A definite must experience when visiting Sonoma
