Iron Horse is one of the most beautiful vineyards in Sonoma County: a series of gentle rolling hills stitched together by rows of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, blanketed by a misting of morning fog. Venture to the Tasting Room at the top of the hill. There’s often a rainbow when the sun breaches the mist.

It’s hard not to feel optimistic when you see Iron Horse – the visual equivalent of opening a bottle of Sparkling Wine, which conveniently there are plenty to enjoy. The pillar of Iron Horse’s prestige is that their bubblies have been served at the White House for five consecutive Presidential Administrations, beginning with the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit meetings, ending the Cold War. Few Sparklings outside Champagne have the depth of character achieved at Iron Horse.

The logo, the rampant horse on a weather vane, came from a 19th century weathervane found while clearing away the rubble during construction. The first vintage of Estate Chardonnay was produced in 1978. 1979 marked the first vintage of Estate Pinot Noir and the official opening of the winery. The first Sparkling Wines were vintage 1980.

Three generations live on the property ranging from 21 to 87 years old.

Iron horse is beyond one of the best experience in tasting that you could ever ask for. The hospitality is top notch. The sparkling is awesome and the wines are great as well. Take your friends your family and you will not be disappointed.

We've wanted to fit Iron Horse into one of our Sonoma visits for more than 4 years & finally did on Friday. Beautiful view, but otherwise thoroughly disappointed. The hospitality was shockingly terrible, our reservation wasn't honored, & we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Also, we're not the same party as the 1* review from 5/17, so maybe this is a trend there now. Pretty sad.

Became a member on my first visit in 2017. Lovely venue and delicious champagne. On a recent visit, with friends in April 2018, enjoyed the Pinor Noir and the bubbly. Packed a lunch and with permission, enjoyed our meal at a quaint, clean, and shaded picnic table with the accompaniment of their champagne and pinor noir. The grounds are a visual gift as well.

Unfriendly. Rude. Curt host. Never tasted. Do not cater to wine buyers like us. More interested in tasters who don’t buy. Beautiful views. Good setting. Ate lunch in parking lot to enjoy view before departing. View worth the ride. Drove out with 12 cases in the SUV. None from Iron Horse.

Iron Horse is a very, very beautiful winery. Delicious sparkling wine houses that aren’t ~super~ commercial are also hard to find, so Iron Horse is a must for bubble fans in your life. That’s why I brought my mom back for Mother’s Day. The man pouring our wines was a bummer,he totally mansplained about everything and only really paid attention to 1 of the 4 people in our group, my boyfriend. :(

Iron Horse is the real deal, they've been around for decades and continue to produce fantastic sparkling wines, Chardonnays and pinot noirs. They are not fancey but I'd rather have good wine than a fancy tasting room and crap wine.

I've visited I.H. more than a dozen times. Always good. Many changes since last visit about 2012, (like the entire industry): Pricier, rezzie req., more peeps. But view still spectacular. More organized. Hailey was superb: relaxed, attentive but not the show. Knew the products. Friendly, never pushed the wine club (so overdone everywhere!). I.H. might pave the parking to avoid high dust factor.

These bottles are not cheap, but at the same time the vibe is not pretentious and they welcome normal people here. The $50 tasting fee is steep, but it keeps the rift-raft away and is waived if you buy something (I went with the intention of buying a bottle of their least expensive bubbles for a special occasion). Nice location that would do well with some picnic tables.

If you enjoy sparkling wine, make sure to visit Iron Horse. Their wines and champagnes have been served at the White House countless times for good reason. You're sure to find one you love. It's well worth the visit even if you don't. The view is spectacular. The outdoor tasting area allows you to enjoy it fully, but best if you enjoy the rustic look.

Sparkling wine tasting was 5 stars! I give 4 stars for a stellar view, but there was borderline sufficient seating and it was busy even for a weekday, and there were no crackers or nibbles to go with the tasting. The drive up was beautiful and adventurous, and it was fantastic to have such a grand view while tasting some very elevated sparkling wine. Look forward to coming back for oysters!

The absolute best sparkling on the planet. Just don't go near the end of the day. You may have to wait a tad for a refill if you go earlier, but the staff is ready to hit the road by 4:00. Not as friendly and attentive as I'm used to. I love how unpretentious the tasting area is and how the setting and view are among the most gorgeous in the county. Don't miss out on this local gem!

The winery was awesome as usual. First time doing the Sunday oyster feed. We came to spend 100 at The Oyster girl area. However we found there customer service hard to work with we left money in our pockets. Well try again. A menu would helpfull. We did know about the other item or mixing items like sampler plate. Like I said well be back again
