About Sterling Vineyards

Perched on a hilltop, above the town of Calistoga, Sterling Vineyards offers the best views of Napa Valley. There's more than just beautiful views to get excited about: the new Platinum Experience has made Sterling a must stop culinary destination.

Perched on a hilltop, 300 feet above the town of Calistoga, Sterling Vineyards offers panoramic views of Napa Valley. An aerial tram carries visitors up the hill to the winery, whose architecture was modeled after that of the Greek island of Mykonos, where Sterling founder Peter Newton once lived. The brilliant white stucco stands out dramatically against the rugged Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges that flank each side of Napa Valley. The winery’s towers house eight bells from London’s Church of St. Dunstans-in-the-East, originally founded in the 10th century. The church was , destroyed by fire in 1666, rebuilt, then destroyed again during the bombing of WWII. Walkways, balconies, and digital screens allow guests to take a self-guided tour of Sterling Vineyards’ winemaking facilities, while enjoying unparalleled views on the South View Terrace.

*WALK-INS ARE WELCOME*

Please note:

The winery will be closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day and close early at 3pm on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve.

Tickets for kids age 3-20 are $15 and currently need to be purchased at the lower wine shop when you check in.

The aerial tram ride may be closed for safety reasons in the event of dangerous winds, storms, or temperatures over 100 degrees. If this occurs, we will transport guests via our private luxury shuttle and provide a modified tour and tasting.

I brought my parents who were visiting from the east coast. It was our first time to sterling and thought the tram ride was spectacular and the as were the views from the rooftop. We enjoyed the history of the bells and the informative, friendly employees at the tasting stations and tasting room at the end where we enjoyed a snack and an extra glass.

The cable car up was decent. The wine tasting experience wasn’t great, although the staff were just really top class. We went to Castello prior to this tour, and it was a different level of warmth and formality.

Sterling Vineyards was very highly recommended to us by close friends. The drive up to the winery was beautiful and the air tram ride was an awesome experience. Once off the tram, it was fairly underwhelming. The price we paid for a self-guided tour seemed high. We paid a similar price at another winery and it included a 2 hour guided tour as well as double the wine tastings at Sterling Vineyards.

Such a beautiful place! The aerial tram is super fun and the view off the patio is breathtaking. Not to mention the wines. They had a nice variety, I enjoyed all of them. Also the price point isn't too bad, they have something for everyone!

Made a booking for my daughter's 21st birthday and paid online. The day before even called to confirm and ask about whether they would close if it rained. Nope, all is fine, come on up. We drove two hours in the rain to get there and it was closed. They had both my email and my phone number and never did me the courtesy of calling.

The property is nice, but if you've ever been in a Gondola at a ski resort you will be underwhelmed. Now let's talk about the wines served on your self guided tour, YUK. It is nothing more than everyday, mass produced, pedestrian, pour it down the drain wine. I wouldn't serve that stuff to anyone I liked. Take your 40 bucks and spend it elsewhere. Worst tasting value in Napa!

They know how to make an impression! The gondola ride was awesome and the views are incredible from the terrace. Enjoyed how they sequenced the wine tasting on the tour and the staff was quite knowledgeable about their wines. Seated tasting was also great. Loved their wines and bought 4 bottles to go.

I was looking for the quintessential "Napa" experience for my sister, who had never been. Plus, I had my 18 mo old granddaughter in tow. Enter Sterling Vineyards. The experience was perfect. Friendly staff greeted us. The self-guided tour was perfectly paced. Our busy toddler had enough to see (aerial tram!) and do. The tasting was both delicious and expertly delivered. Highly recommend this tour!

The weather was perfect for our visit and we enjoyed our silver tour experience beginning on the terrace. It was a Tuesday and very quiet. Riley was very charming as he poured our selections and his knowledge of the industry was very impressive. We purchased a beautiful gift box of wine and another lovely gift from the gift shop for friends. Thank you for a perfect afternoon and thank you, Riley.

The gondola ride and view from the top were a must do experience. It makes for another attraction in Napa Valley. We did the platinum food pairing experience. The food and service were very well done. This is hosted in a private dining area inside. Save extra time to enjoy the views at the top once finished. There is a bar up there.

I have to be honest - Kirsten killed it!!! She was awesome and gave us a crazy god experience. This was our first visit a club memebers and I’m not sure over the year that we saw a ton of value for the membership. This all changed with the experience we had from Kirsten and Ann Marie. Needless to say because of them we are excited to keep our membership. The wine was great too.

We have spent considerable dollars on being "Platinum Members" and expected better treatment. Our host was very friendly, but not tremendously knowledgeable and did not spend much time with us. The most comprehensive experience a winemaker can provide my wife and I. You not only provided us with an above and beyond tasting greater than our expectation was, you provided an experience in the gondola ride to your tasting area that is unmatched in the valley from what I understand. The local residence speak highly of you and your wine from our tenured tastes as wine tasters is unmatxhed

I am in the wine business and have been to 1,000's of wineries, breweries, and distilleries. This was my girlfriends first trip to Napa so I wanted to hit a couple of the big-name spots which is not usually my thing...However, I have to say that it was incredible. Really fun, beautiful, and a different style tour. I would highly recommend Sterling for both trade and civilian guests. Bravo!!

For the money that was spent, a very poor guided general experience. Wine pours were barely detectable. We sat at the rooftop table for about 20 minutes and with 4-5 waiters/waitresses around, got no one to come and ask if we wanted anything. We were excited to stay here for a couple hours before the Castello tour at 1, but ended up leaving at 11 because of the poor experience.
