StoryTellers Series with ‘Appellation Napa Valley’ author Richard Mendelson
Series returns Saturday, April 29th 2017 with Appellation Napa Valley author Richard Mendelson. Hosted
by Philip O’Conor of Handwritten and Chef Emily at her St. Helena hillside farmhouse,
the evening features a fireside reading and Q&A session with Mendelson in
the gardens, food and wine pairing in the speakeasy, with transportation
provided to-and-from the Farmhouse beginning at Jessup Cellars.
“Napa Valley, with its agricultural preserve that began in 1968, has a rich historical background, and Richard guides the reader on a journey through it, introducing those dedicated to wine and its provenance, his modern pioneers. Through stories, keen observations and case histories, he imparts his understanding ... not only of the value of locales and regions, but also of how to preserve, protect, and promote them.” — THOMAS KELLER, CHEF/PROPRIETOR, THE FRENCH LAUNDRY
In Appellation Napa Valley, renowned wine lawyer and industry authority Richard
Mendelson takes us inside the struggles that did so much
to make the Napa Valley into what it is today. Along the way, he brings us
incisive portraits of the men and women who joined hands in common cause and
common spirit, igniting a revolution in American wine and food in the process.
The afternoon’s food and wine pairings include ‘The Author’
Sauvignon Blanc, an AVA Cabernet Sauvignon tasting featuring three wines from
2012 vintage, whole roasted pig, oysters, and a variety of small farm bites.
