Enjoy a Spring Fling in Wine Country

Bright blue skies, vibrant blossoms, and spring wine releases. It's time to go to wine country!

Emerald green hillsides and vineyards highlighted by bright golden ribbons of mustard, spring is the most vibrant time of year in wine country.  Delicate leaf buds begin to emerge from the woody dormant vines igniting anticipation of what this year's harvest will yield.  There is still much to do in the vineyards to nurture the vines before those luscious berries are ready to be plucked.  Soon cover crops will be popping up between the vineyard rows to attract the helpful critters that keep the not so good bugs from harming the vulnerable vines.  The job for these superhero plants isn't over once they have reached the end of their lifecycle.  Once the cover crop's season has ended, the plants will be plowed into the soil providing vital nutrients to keep the vines healthy and happy.

Spring is a wonderful time of year to visit wine country, besides the abundant beauty that spring blossoms and verdant green provides, you can enjoy a summer like escape without the crowds.  The temps from Sonoma to Temecula will range from the high 60's to the low 80's, perfect sipping a glass of rose poolside while getting a little pre-season tan.  Speaking of rose, many wineries host their spring release parties typically featuring rose, Sauvignon blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier and other delightful wine that pair well with the flavors of spring cuisine.

Take advantage of the lodging specials and book an extended stay.  Tasting rooms , the most popular restaurants, and local attractions will still be busy during weekends.  Making reservations at the most in-demand destinations on Thursday, Friday, or Monday are typically much easier to come by, plus you can free up your Saturday or Sunday for enjoying some much needed relaxation and enjoying a bottle or two of you new favorite wines you discovered just a day before.
