About Beringer Vineyards

No winery more thoroughly embodies the timeless appeal and seductive flavor of Napa Valley than Beringer Vineyards, Napa’s benchmark producer since its establishment in 1876.

As Napa's oldest continuously operating winery, Beringer is an American wine icon built on 142 years of winemaking tradition. Visitors are welcome to explore the expansive property, which was designated a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. In 1883, Frederick Beringer began construction of the 17-room Rhine House mansion—a re-creation of the family home located on the Rhine River in Germany. The extraordinary edifice sparkles with original Belgian Art Nouveau stained glass and carved woodwork. Frederick's Rhine House is the center of Beringer’s reserve and library tastings, and guests can enjoy a glass of wine while relaxing in Frederick’s library or on his porch, overlooking expansive lawns and lush gardens.

As a pioneer in the industry, Beringer has the distinction of being the first and only winery in the world to have both a white and a red wine named #1 Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator (1986 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the 1994 Private Reserve Chardonnay--the first time a white wine garnered this coveted award). In its 142 years of operation, Beringer has had only eight chief winemakers. Today, Winemaker Mark Beringer, great-great-grandson of the founder, continues the exemplary Beringer winemaking legacy of crafting wines that highlight the best of Napa Valley’s many exemplary terroirs.

Beringer is the place to visit for those who wish to experience the unique history and the terroir of Napa Valley.

Please note:

The winery will be closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day and close early at 3pm on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve.

We did the cave tour. We have a small infant and we were able to access everything by means of stroller. It was very informative and full of history while sipping on good wines throughout.

My wife and I live 1 hour south in Marin and come to the wine country many times a year. We have not been to Beringer in years. We so enjoyed the tour and wine and food pairing. The guide was excellent as well as the wine and food. A wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone.

We have been to other wineries that are much smaller in size. This one is huge. The cave tour is rather short and the wines were uninspiring. The history is interesting. The overall experience was underwhelming - we did the tour to give our foreign friend a quick taste of Napa and for that purpose it was OK.

Enjoyed the Rhein House setting for the tasting, and our guide, Tim, was fine and enthusiastic -- those were the good points. The rest was terribly disappointing -- the Beringer Wines offered for tasting were mediocre at best and not worthy of the Beringer brand; the food offered (three "bites") were a match for the mediocrity of the wines offered. The Tour and Tasting weren't worth the price

Took my mother here for Mother’s Day tour and wine tasting here and loved it. Was not too busy on a Saturday. Short walking tour of history and got to taste wines along the way and see vines. Learned more about wine and foodpairing with more wine tasting and little yummy bites at the end. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Pretty grounds, good wines would recommend.

Rhine House Private Seated Tasting on 5/08/18 3:00 PM

This was our second visit to Beringer with two friends who now live in the Seattle area. We booked the Rhine House Private Seated Tasting and were delighted with our host (Tim Stel), the ambience of the library where the tasting took place, and the wonderful wines and appetizers we were served. No doubt about it, Beringer is our favorite winery in Napa and we look forward to visiting again soon

Great tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Beringer. He took his time, answering all the questions and pausing throughout the grounds to have us smell the plants and flowers. We especially enjoyed the tastings that were paired with small bites and the way he explained the tastes and flavors and asked all of us what we thought.

We visited five wineries during our stay (Beringer, Mondavi, Caymus, John Anthony and Duckhorn). Although we love the Beringer wines, the tasting was extremely overpriced compared to the other four. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend the To Kalon tasting.

The Beringer Experience- Pu Tong Hua (Mandarin) on 4/08/18 11:30 AM

we have a good time during this tour. The wine tour guide, Chin-Wu Chin, he spent half hour to explain the Beringer vineyards history, and explain the wine tasting in another half hour. In history parts, he uses humorous and easy language to explain soil types and how to take care grapes. Then, he introduces the Beringer vineyards history, let us know the winery house is lean on hill .

The weather was not the best, it was raining pretty hard all day, but the property was still just outstanding, elegant and romantic. I took my mother here and we both enjoyed the tour and tasting. Such beautiful history at this Vineyard. I am so happy we went here and would definitely go back to experience it when the weather is clear so we can walk about the property. So breath taking!

This is a beautiful, historic winery with delicious wines and is a great place to visit. The wine pairing was fun and the room warm and beautifully set. Our tour guide was fun and energetic and she clearly loved her job and sharing the winery/wines with her guests. We generally visit smaller, less discovered wineries but I was glad to come back to visit Beringer and to show our daughter a classic.
